Clermont County weekly sales tax receipts rose for the fourth straight week with 16 271 19 for the week ending Feb 28, beating last year by 4 300 25. Cumulative 570 713 91 up 19 918 41 from March 1 1958. Ohio statewide weekly totals at 3 581 655 up 11 1 percent from 1958. Fiscal year to date 150 059 534 2 9 percent under last year. Legion Posts Exceed Quotas in Clermont County
Four American Legion posts in Clermont County exceed their membership quotas per a March 4 district report. Bethel Post 406 has 209, Felicity Post 224 has 84, Loveland Post 256 has 56, Milford Post 450 has 329 of 191. Forestville Post 318 also tops its quota with 134 members. Other standings show Batavia Post 287 with 193, Williamsburg Post 228 with 76, and New Richmond Post 950 with 75.

Girl Student Heads Literary Event at Heidelberg College

Food distribution for needy in Clermont halted for March
County Welfare Director Wayne Oney announced no food will be distributed in March as milk and cheese were removed from the state's available items. Rice butter cornmeal and flour remain but transportation costs outweigh the value. Distribution will resume next month if sufficient food items are provided. The state is trying to include meat and other items in the program.

Sue Hayes former Clermont Courier staff writer and daughter of Charles F. and Mrs. Hayes Madeira has been selected as the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity candidate for Goddess of the Greeks at the University of Cincinnati. The sophomore Teachers College student is rush chairman for Alpha Chi Omega and active in YWCA and Greek Week committees. The Goddess will be crowned March 31 during Greek Week events.

Family Wins Suit Against County Damages Awarded in Auto Crash Case
The Sizemore family received 3000 dollars from Clermont County commissioners in a Common Pleas Court verdict in Batavia. Jurors assigned damages of 1500 to Lorene Sizemore 1000 to Herschel Sizemore and 500 to Hubert Sizemore for injuries from a car crash they attributed to a hole on Mt Carmel Tabasco Road. Judge Darrell Hottle presided.

Rt. 132 Resurfacing Joins 1959 Bid Opening
The State Highway Department will open bids on March 31 for resurfacing two Rt. 132 sections totaling 14.7 miles. One stretch covers 9.6 miles from Rt. 50 south to near Rt. 28 at the Warren County line, and another 5.1 miles runs from the Clermont line to Rt. 123 in Warren County.
