Alfred Hanson Penn Holter died Friday March 9 1906 aged about 58. He was born in Olive Branch and served in the 153d Ohio. He worked as a compositor book-keeper and Government clerk before health ended his career. He was married to Eva Apple and left a wife son and two daughters. Burial followed at Olive Branch M E Church with interment in the Olive Branch cemetery.

A saloon and the store of Thomas & Son in Amelia were looted by three suspects Warren Judd Peter Ross and Allen Gardner. Bloody finger marks and a broken window tied them to the crimes. Gardner aged 18 was released on bond while Judd and Ross remained jailed awaiting grand jury action. Gardner had just failed a Navy exam and returned home drunk.

Benton Brown native of the county died March 1 1906 at his Hartwell home in his 70th year. His wife Loussa Gaither Brown and four of five children survive.
