Ringland serves two weeks in military intelligence unit

Bob Ringland, common pleas judge, traded his robe for two weeks on active duty with the U S Unified Forces Caribbean at Key West Naval Air Station. He sat in for a duty counterpart gathering information in the Caribbean and stressed the threat from Middle East and Latin America. Ringland will continue military training and aims to graduate from Command Staff College in September.

Afton plant hit by new union strike after talks fail

About 60 employees faced a representation vote with 12 opposing the union amid stalled wage and benefits talks at Cincinnati Fiberglass. Workers walked off on March 4 after negotiations broke down February end. An injunction limited picketing to two at a time as replacements were anticipated.

Jail dedication set for Sunday in Batavia

Sheriff Van Camp will receive the keys to the new 128 bed county jail on Filager Road for a 2 p.m. Sunday ceremony with open house and tours to follow. Officials expect prisoner moves to begin April 1 and work continues on doors and electronic safety systems amid final finishing touches before turnover.

Baldwin to Move Offices to Ward Corner Miami Township

Baldwin Piano and Organ Co announces a move of its general offices to Tipton Associates Ward's Corner, building a new 60,000 square foot one story facility. The project costs about 2 million dollars and will consolidate 125 employees from the Baldwin Building in Walnut Hills. The site at Ward's Corner offered favorable development plans and an expanded product line for keyboards.

Indians and settlers clash in Clermont County 1792 battle

In Jackson Township on Friday March 16, 1792 a large clash occurred as about 100 Indians under leaders Tseh Battise Black Snake and Wolf Chinskau camped near Limekiln Ford by the East Fork of the Little Miami. This marks the largest battle on Clermont County soil in the early Ohio country conflicts.
