Dr. Leonard Westcott Bishop died at his home in Batavia Wednesday evening in his 90th year. A Hamilton County born physician and vaunted community leader, he treated cholera in Mt. Washington, aided Civil War recruit efforts, helped build the first railroad through the area, and taught in Goshen. Funeral services were held at his home conducted by Rev. Howard Billman. Nelson Applegate, a longtime Batavia farmer, died February 26 1903 at his home after a sudden decline from valvular heart trouble. He left a widow and several children. the funeral was held at the family residence.

Eben Altman traveling freight agent for the Chicago Rock Island Pacific railroad married Cora Ward of Madisonville on February 21 1903 in Cincinnati. The ceremony was performed by Rev F A Wilbur.
Albert Heinrici proprietor of a gentle men's furnishings store will manage the Chilli cothe baseball team next season. Dr W C Griffith will oversee the store in his absence. Heinrici brings discipline and experience and plans to take two or three Batavia players including Paul Dustin. The group departs mid April with best wishes from friends.
Joseph Patterson of Batavia and Mies Alma Moorehead of Williamsburg were married Wednesday evening at the bride's father's house. Patterson is a thrifty farmer and assistant infirmary superintendent. Moorehead becomes matron at the infirmary.
Mr and Mrs Charles James entertained many relatives and friends last week. Perry Creiger moved to Cincinnati for work. Mr and Mrs Wm Bushelman did business in Blanchester. Maggie Breslin of Cincinnati visits her mother. Mr and Mrs John Rapp of Monterey visited P H Hadley. A P Kellum and wife dined at Dan Shaffer's. Willig and Archie Malotte of Warren County visited their parents here.
Mr and Mrs Creager depart this week for a new home in Loveland and are praised by the community. Mrs Ira Connor has been sick the past week. J C Dennis and son visited his sister Mrs Ireton. Samuel Morse buys the W B Creager farm and will take possession. The last literary meeting was at W H Iretons with a fine time. John Creager a sale last Saturday drew local attendees.

W A Johnson and Grol also relocate. Protracted meeting ends with modest church impact. Fayetteville ladies raise 85 for church repairs via oyster supper. Mrs. Day and others convalesce while EK H McNutt visits Cincinnati. Bast Fork floods mark an unusual February occurrence.
