Obituary for Clara Collins Titus of Batavia Ohio
Clara Collins Titus, long a Batavia resident, died June 23 1920 at 84. Born in New Hampshire and raised in Clinton county, she married Samuel Titus in 1855 and raised five children. A hospitable, educated woman active in suffrage and temperance, she taught school and supported women’s causes. Her memory lives in her family and in Batavia’s literary circles.

Hail Damages Crops Across Regions
A severe hailstorm last Thursday damaged crops in multiple sections. Local impact was lighter near town, but tobacco, corn, and wheat suffered beyond recovery farther out. In Miami township hail covered ground for an hour, while North Carolina sections report losses in the millions with cotton and tobacco nearly ruined and corn possibly a half crop.
