Wedding Glows in Batavia as Katharine Jamieson Weds Randall Walker

In Batavia on June 25, Katharine Louise Jamieson and Randall Edwin Walker united in marriage at a ceremony in the family library. The event featured a maple hedge archway, ferns, and a double ring rite officiated by Rev. Geo. D. McCulloch. The couple plans a canoe trip on the Manistee before settling in Cincinnati.

Filing Nomination Papers for November Election

The November 8 election requires nomination petitions filed with the Clerk of the Election Board in Batavia sixty days before the election, by September 6. Fourth at Williamsburg Independence Day Celebration

Williamsburg American Legion prepares a July 4 program with a grand parade at 8 30 a m, band concert, baseball, speeches, races, contests, a sham battle by Co I 147th Infantry ONG, fireworks and a dance at the armory. Destructive Fence Vandalism Warns Local Youths

County commissioners erected an iron fence from the Main Street bridge to guard rail crossings. Recent acts by destructive youths bent and snapped pallings and defaced the property. Officials hold the names of the offenders and warn of enforcement if repairs are not made.

Thomas Quinn Ashburn Jr. son of Colonel Thomas Q. Ashburn Acting Chief Inland and Coastwise Waterways Service War Department was awarded a cadetship to West Point entering July 1 1921. He passed the presidential exam as top student from Army and Navy Preparatory Academy in Washington DC and is grandson of Mrs Julia Ashburn of Batavia Ohio.

Pike Section Near Amelia Near Completion for Inspection

H. Laub & Co report their section of the state pike near Amelia is completed and awaiting state inspectors for approval. The road is well built and lines up with state requirements. The firm plans to bid on the pike from the Hamilton county line to Williamsburg, with possible county take over this week.

The U S Postoffice Department invites bids to furnish a suitable 1000 square foot room for Batavia postoffice with possession by April 1 1922 and opening July 31. Loveland Bartender Fined in Liquor Possession Case

Cayril Miller of Loveland was tried in the Probate Court before Judge Young for illegal liquor possession. On May 12, 1921, while bartending for Roy Emerson, Miller attempted to pour from a bottle during a raid. inspectors seized the bottle. He previously paid $25 and costs for resisting an officer. He was later arrested in Columbus, Ohio, and brought back to Batavia, where he was fined $500 plus costs. the fine split between the state and county, with costs paid by Emerson.

Family Dinner at Deerfield Road Hosts Thirty Six Friends

Beckner Case and County Education Institute Plans

The Beckner murder case costs the county about 1200 dollars as a record. The County Teachers Institute will be held at Felicity from August 2 to 26 for a week with good prospects and high enrollment. The law allows 10 dollars for expenses to each active teacher and salaries are not complained of.

Atwood anti theft auto law filed with clerk

The law requires every auto owner to file with the county clerk a sworn description of the vehicle including make and engine number. A 26 cent filing fee funds the clerk’s salary and the new record must be updated on each sale. The act, aimed at reducing auto theft, takes effect August 14 with about 700000 autos statewide and 2500 in Clermont county. A separate note mentions Batavia Catholic congregation holding a 40 hours devotion service with a large attendance.
