A lengthy obituary honors Allen T. Cowen born February 13 1834 in Batavia. He served as Milford prosecutor probate judge common pleas judge and Clermont Sun editor. He died after heart trouble at home leaving wife Kate A. Brown and four children. His funeral will be held at his residence Friday at 10 a.m. with Masonic and Old Fellows rites.
Wealthy Ger Wessel of Stonelick survived a brush with disaster last Saturday while handling a span of young horses at a water trough near Batavia. He regained control after being dragged under a hay wagon but sustained cuts and bruises, returned home, then drove to Batavia after recovery.
Mrs Edward Carpenter of Perintown was thrown from a hammock when a support broke injuring her leg. Neighbor Robert Carnahan removed and stored the hammock.
