Surprise wedding twist on a wedding party trip

On the way to Allen Roudebush and Miss Lillian Wagner’s wedding in Canton a brother of the groom, William R, announced his own engagement to Miss Sue Campbell of Canton. The party stopped to witness the ceremony and Will and his bride joined the group traveling to the original couple’s wedding. The surprise left the family astonished and pleased.

Indian and Batavia Nine Play In Closest Game Of The Season

Large crowd observed a tight contest as Batavia defeated the Nebraska Indians 3 to 2. Will Smith delivered a timely three-base hit, Wolf pitched well for Batavia, and Batavia showed strength while the Indians played hard and fair throughout. Next Saturday Union Centrals travel to Batavia for another matchup.

Monthly Guild Quilting and Dinner Held at Keen Home

The M. E. Guild women held an all day quilting and dinner at Miss Lizzie Keen's home last Wednesday. Members meet monthly to quilt and prepare meals for the church, a pleasant gathering that leaves none unsatisfied.

Class Meet of Sunday-School Groups at Teal Home

Sunday school classes of T Teal and Louis Hicks gathered at Teal's home last Thursday with 26 members. The lively crowd sewed and chatted between activities while refreshments of ice cream cake and lemonade were served. A committee of four provided the treats assisted by T O Teal who supplied the ice cream.

Batavia Unveils New Park For Public Gatherings

Batavians celebrate a new park beside the town hall with tall maple shade, benches, electric lighting, and capacity for 8000 people. In rain, the hall remains available. The town touts lights, pavements, water, shade, railroad access, and civic spirit.
