Fence Row Ends in Damages for Goshen Trustees
In July 1887 Haywood, then Clermont county commissioner, wrote an abusive letter defending trustees N O Roat and Isaac Heywood who tore down L P Sevart’s fence for a county road. Sevart sued for damages. a Goshen township court awarded £55, then the common pleas court gave Sevart $30. The trustees billed the county for $199.16 costs plus attorney fees, which was allowed, though Sevart’s vindication was clear.

Clermont county Republicans held their convention at the courthouse to choose delegates for the State convention.
