Battle of Princeton described with Federal and Rebel movements

In May 1862 reports describe Federal forces including the 12th 23rd and 30th Ohio Infantry and other units facing Humphrey Marshall near Giles Court House. The Princeton affair features a 5 hour fight, heavy Rebel attacks, and a Federal retreat then counterattack leading to fort fighting and a night march back toward Raleigh road.

County Fair Premium Rules and Eligibility

Rules govern voting rights for Soviety members over 21 who reside in the county or district. Premium competition is open except field crops limited to local residents. Entries must be owned by the entrant or their family. Non residents pay one dollar plus admission. Animals may enter in multiple classes but receive only one premium. No item may be shown in more than one division. If unworthy, no premium awarded despite competition.

Terms of Entry for Society Exhibits

Members paying one dollar this year may exhibit any number of articles in any class. The Board may discount premiums if fair funds are insufficient. Stubs and pens cannot be occupied until paid. Ground for stalls or pens available by applying to the Executive Committee for Care and Horses.

Regulations For Fair Exhibits And Premiums

Exhibitors must register animals or articles at the Secretary’s office before entry. Cards with numbers and class are to be displayed on each item. No removal before close without General Executive Committee permission. Entries extended to 10 AM next day but punctuality required. late entries cannot compete. Premium applicants should prepare retirements for Blooded Stock and other categories. field crops specimens should be ready before the first Monday of December at Batavia.

Terms of Admission for Fair Access

Each member paying one dollar will receive a badge for entry and exit with family or a gentleman with up to two ladies. Single tickets are 25 cents each, valid for one admission. On Wednesday Thursday and Friday tickets must be presented to the gate-keeper upon entry. Badges are nontransferable.

Activities include pacing walking and riding events for ladies and gentlemen.
