A young California girl Ella Bowers from Hamilton County Ohio vanishes after leaving a basket with a clerk on Fourth Street. A torn letter to John Brinkeman of Higginsport Ohio and a photo album hint at a doomed romance with her lover who promised marriage. A later update reveals Ella was found awaiting a reunion in Higginsport after planning to marry in Cincinnati.

Pioneer Association Holds Annual Reunion at Williamsburg Park

The Cincinnati Pioneer Association met last Thursday at Williamsburg Park with a large turnout. Members traveled by special train from Cincinnati and Brown and Clermont counties sent delegates. The program featured a pioneer song, prayers, and an address of welcome by Rev. W Hines, with R K Cox presiding.

Williamsburg Pioneer Reunion Brightens Clermont County

The Williamsburg reunion featured Dr. Tedford singing Be Kind to Thy Parents, John D. Caldwell introducing early Clermont settlers, and reminiscences by Rev. W Hines and Joseph Seifert. Foot races for seniors drew crowds, prizes included a silver pitcher and goblet, and speakers lauded pioneers while crowds enjoyed meals and old-time songs under the trees.

bidders for the Cincinnati and Eastern road emerge as the Ohio and Northwestern Railroad Company joins with H B Moorehead in a proposed purchase. the plan provides to pay holders of receiver certificates in cash or bonds, widen the line within thirty days, and lay a fifty six pound steel rail to connect to the standard gauge at a junction toward Cincinnati. signatures are being gathered to accept the proposition with a July 1 1886 deadline.

Batavia young man wed in Versailles area

William Hoffman of Moscow Ohio, a former Batavia boy, married Miss Jee Tyson last Sunday evening at her mother's home. Rev. Jesse Miller officiated with only Mrs. Miller and the bride's mother as witnesses. The couple will settle in the county and live there.

Georgetown summons in McGraw shooting case hearing set

The following gentlemen are summoned to Georgetown to testify in the McGraw shooting case set for hearing June 15. McGraw, Georgetown marshal, says he shot Brooks in self defense at a Mt Creb saloon after Brooks caused a disturbance while intoxicated. The case draws broad local interest and is to be heard this week.

Relic Hunters Unearth Mounds Under Madisonville Doctor

Dr. Metz leads a Peabody museum expedition on Henry Clatta’s Union township farm near Robert Davis, unearthing eight foot high mounds with evidence of fire, ashes, and a skeleton. Five mounds were previously found on Edward’s farm near Milford yielding war implements, ornaments, and skeletons, with substantial profits reported from relic sales.

Rev John Graham of Waterford PA preached to the Methodist congregation last Sunday. Rev Middleton of Boston will lecture next Sunday and Dr Sutherland the Sunday after. Presbytery preacher Rev F Walker of Oxford College appears on the 20th. Regular pastors fill A B German MB and Zion pulpits. The new Perin's Mills MB church will be dedicated Sunday June 9 at 10 90 am led by Dr D J Stan. Dr Joyce and others attend. The church is a new ornament to Little Anil area and its citizens take pride.
