Popular Young Man Dies in Cincinnati
Hanford A. Thirey age 80 son of Mr and Mrs Frank A Thirey of Monterey died at Christ hospital Cincinnati after an eight year chronic illness. He was a 1909 Owensville High School graduate and Phi Beta Kappa member at Ohio State University 1916. He worked as a chemist for Procter Gamble then in the State Health Department in Columbus. Funeral held at Monterey Presbyterian Church with Owensville lodge F and A M in charge. Burial in Greenlawn Milford. He is survived by his parents two sisters Leontine and Luette and a brother Russell.

The Batavia marriage of James B. Scott optician of E. B. Scott Jewelry and Carolyn V. Moore private secretary to County Superintendent B. T. Davis was a ring ceremony conducted by Rev. Edmund Burdeau. The event featured Lohengrin music, pink roses, and rice shower witnesses. Guests included Hyde Park residents and relatives from Evanston and Abilene Kansas. Miss Aida Dockwall of Abilene High School earned honor graduate status in the class of 1922 with a fourteen carat gold pin.

Filing closes for August primary petitions in Clermont
Columbus reports primary ballots will be large with separate party ballots and cross marks required for each candidate. After petitions are examined, filings in Clermont include Republicans and Democrats listing numerous county and state offices, with a filing fee of one half of one percent of the annual salary. Ballots for absent voters arrive 80 days before the primaries.

Fire at Olive Branch destroys school and store
A Sunday night fire wiped out the residence of J M Motley his general store post office and two story brick school building. The Methodist church and other property were saved by neighboring efforts. Olive Branch lies three miles west of Batavia on the pike. The school closed for summer and most property was insured. Plans consider moving Olive Branch scholars into the Batavia district.

Batavia Man Dies at Home From Heart Disease
Peter Haas of Batavia, an employee at the machine shop, collapsed and died at his home Monday morning from heart disease. He was esteemed as a good and industrious citizen. He is survived by his widow and one son.

Dairy association pays butterfat bonus to members
The Southwestern Dairy Association has paid members an extra cent and a half per pound of butterfat sold through the association since March. Secretary Herbert Waterman says this just part of the benefits, with stations opening in June and more planned for Mt Crab and Laurel. The county commissioners approved numerous bills and contracts as May and June activities continued.
