County Benefits From State Fund For Construction
Twenty-two school districts in 17 Ohio counties benefit from a state school construction fund set at 20 million dollars. State Auditor James A. Rhodes notes 433,977.72 has been spent so far for the districts. Clermont received 91,266.85. Funds are loans or leases, not outright grants, and require approval by the state department of education.

County Engineer Submits Proposal As Dump Solution
County Engineer Carl Rush proposes a county wide dump program with three landfill sites in Goshen Union and Monroe areas. Trial date set for John P. Friend Jr. in embezzlement case
John P. Friend Jr., former Clermont County treasurer indicted May 5 on three counts of embezzlement, has a tentative trial date of September 15. A final report by Examiner Earl Serby is awaited before a definite date can be set. The state auditor’s office says the 23 year office tenure report will not be ready before July 1.

Phone Answering Service Approved For O O Mattox
The county building inspector O O Mattox will gain an automated telephone answering service for 12.50 per month to handle requests before and after hours in his Gregg Building office. Commissioners also authorized H E Beard to repair the jail roof after damage from prisoner escape attempts and instructed sheriff to seek floor covering estimates for the sheriff’s office jail kitchen and lavatory. They will seek permission from George Gregg to remove the old barn near the courthouse to make a parking lot.

Mayor R. C. Jamieson of Batavia issued a warning to motorists cited for parking meter violations who have not deposited 25 cents. Owners have until Saturday June 13 to pay a $1 penalty per ticket or a warrant may be issued with possible $50 penalty and court costs.
