Robbery at Reading Bank Nets Teen Thief

Secret Cellar Found Under Old Farmhouse
Last week Parnell Moore and local farmers tore down the 100 year old Para oner home in Tate township to replace it with a new house. While removing the kitchen floor workers uncovered a 12 by 12 secret cellar beneath rough stone with a crawl entry from a kitchen trap door. Legends say enslaved people used it as a stopover during Civil War escapes from Kentucky. Mr. M will enlarge the cellar for basement use.

Wheat in this section is turning out well and threshing is progressing nicely. Ed Ernst threshed 783 bushels from 80 acres though joint worm injuries were expected. Segley Bros and E. will ship a carload to Baltimore for 2.08 per car. Last week 1,116 bushels were threshed on the China Ernst farm near Milford and sold in Cincinnati for 2.17 per bushel. Farmers want to dispose of wheat promptly to avoid holding risk.
