Temperance lecturer’s arrest sparks public sympathy incident

The McConnelsville Standard reports Mr Bear invited to speak on temperance on the 4th when a man named Bell hired for dirty work had Bear arrested with a capias over a 1834 note for 15 dollars. Public sympathy rose to aid Bear and resolutions in his favor followed. Scary note warns a bishop critic.
