County officials tightened rules amid growing mobile home fires. Fire chief Burns warns a mobile home can burn to the ground in eight minutes, prompting stricter minimum setbacks and lot sizes. Pennington notes 90 percent of fires involve mobile homes, amid 21 trailer parks in Clermont County and more on individual plots.
Sanger and Clermont officials led a Glen Este gathering of 35 residents to examine four bills SB 170 SB 70 SB 208 and HB 559. PTA members and school board voices urged local control and cautioned against state overreach while urging citizens to contact Columbus lawmakers.
Geoffrey Reynolds, director of Clermont County Disaster Services, asked the county to allow periodic unannounced inspections of the Zimmer Nuclear Power Plant in Moscow. Commissioners questioned safety concerns but said they would consult plant owners and rely on federal experts.
Clermont County Chamber members heard engineer Vogt present an expressway version of US 50 replacing the freeway plan. Principal Warren Tipton notes no policy changes beyond writing prior practice and allows non contact boys' sports for girls when available.
