A health note explains tooth decay stems from poor cleanliness. It warns the mouth runs warm at 98 degrees and particles of meat between teeth decompose, causing gums and teeth to suffer.
A narrator recalls seeing a son late in the evening among a group of bad boys, some smoking cigars and using profane language. The writer urges a parent to know the boy’s associates and warn against confinement to shop or ledger, fearing sorrow for the household without restraint.
