This week’s Courier announces a special fair edition with information about the County Fair from July 27 to August 1. It includes a fairgrounds map, a schedule, a brief fair history, and photos from past years.
Clermont Visitors Inc announces a tour of historical sites around Clermont County led by Clermont Courier sports editor Richard Crawford. The journey includes a box lunch along the Ohio River and is expected to be joined by Governor James Rhodes.
Vacation Bible School will be held August 3 through August 7 in the Fellowship Hall at 681 Mt. Moriah Drive Withamsville. The program covers nursery through adults and welcomes all. For more information contact the church office.
Disabled Veterans and auxiliary announce a country and western band concert at the Alamo in Mt Carmel on Sunday July 26 from 2 PM to 2 AM. Admission is 2 dollars at the door.
Ohio Department of Transportation announces improvements on SR 32 in Union Township. The contract was awarded to a Cincinnati firm on a low bid of 562,472 dollars with an estimated cost of 737 thousand dollars. Traffic will be maintained during construction.

Batavia YWCA hosts the 13th August Auguries on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Main Street will feature arts crafts baked goods antiques and flea market items with entertainment at various times. Fran Schwiermann reports on the proposed closure of the Children's Receiving Home at 204 N. Second Street Batavia and the lack of beds in nearby counties for abused and neglected children. Four juvenile cells remain, forcing older children into unsafe settings and younger ones into foster homes after delays. CECA treasurer Donald Sargent questions housing decisions and matching children to homes. Wolfe will present findings and program updates at the New Richmond CECA meeting.

At the July 13 West Clermont School Board meeting treasurer Glen Lucas reported a 1982 budget of 15 675 000 showing a deficit caused mainly by cuts in the state foundation program. The article notes prior increases of 13 percent in 1979 and 5 percent in 1980, with continuation on page 2.
County overpayments cited for insurance credits on premiums paid for county vehicles and equipment sold at public auction. Wiesenhahn BI and Commissioner Robert Croswell noted for insurance premium overpayments totaling 2791 dollars charged on February 20.
