Republican convention to convene in Columbus July 26 27

Ohio Republicans gather in Columbus for the July 26 and 27 state convention to nominate a governor candidate and adopt a platform endorsing Taft. Senator Burton will be permanent chairman, Nicholas Longworth will deliver the keynote, and several candidates are said to be in the running. Clermont county will send eight delegates including Rist Gatch Fuhr Henderson Kearns McMurphy Brannock Johnson.

Cincinnati Pittsburg Interurban to Tap Up River Territory

The Cincinnati Pittsburg Interurban line may tap the agricultural and dairy region between Portsmouth and New Richmond. A preliminary $1,000,000 is raised with plans to grow to $20,000,000 and seek a Cincinnati connection via New Richmond. The route would serve towns such as Buena Vista Ripley Rome Manchester Aberdeen Higginsport Chile Moscow Pt Pleasant and others with improved rail service.

Hulick-Weaver Family Reunion Set for July in Highland Park

Inter-state Band Contest At Dayton Exposition

An inter-state band concert open to brass bands from Ohio Indiana and Kentucky within 200 miles will be part of the Industrial Exposition and Fall Festival in Dayton September 19 to 24. The contest aims to be the era’s most comprehensive in the middle West with cash prizes and gold medals for various classes. Annual Outing of Clermont County Medical Association

The Clermont County Medical Association plans its annual outing at the Owensville fair grounds on August 8. The program features talks music recitations and athletics with a church society offering dinner at a nominal price. Physicians invite all to join for a day of pleasure including two scratch baseball games.

Mrs Lucinda Taylor Dead In Nicholsville

Mrs Lucinda Taylor died at her Nicholsville home on Saturday July 16 at age 78. She belonged to Spring Grove M E Church and was active in service. Survived by two sisters Amanda Light and Cyntha Hunter and a brother James Light. Funeral there Monday at Franklin chapel conducted by Rev J Kerd. Interment nearby. The Shades Bake members extend sympathy.

Former Batavian Resident John D Kerr Dies at 58

John D Kerr aged 58 died at his North Street home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the residence with interment in Washington cemetery. The Knights of Pythias will handle the funeral. He was born in Batavia, son of the late H V Kerr, survived by his widow, five children, and many friends in Clermont county.

Ohio highway map edition planned for August release

Five thousand copies of a state highway map for Ohio will be printed under a historic act and distributed around August 16. Mrs. Thomas J. Nichols dies at home aged 68. Funeral services by Rev. J. Shepherd at the M. E. church at 11 a m today. Burial in Carmel cemetery. Survived by husband three daughters and many relatives and friends. Community offers sympathy.
