The Mt Carmel Universalist church holds its annual meeting next Saturday afternoon in July. Rev H L Canfield of Cincinnati preaches at 2 pm and again the following Sunday evening. The New York Press invites fifty Union veterans to be guests of the paper traveling to the World’s Fair. Selected by Sunday Press readers, honored veterans will have a week in Chicago with all expenses paid from train departure to return. All G A R veterans in good standing are eligible regardless of town or state.

Jonathan Whittaker once jailed for the 1879 murder of his father near Monterey Jackson township is released on parole after a pardon board recommendation citing his health and mild conduct. Whittaker, 41, was the defendant in a first degree murder case later pleading to second degree and serving life. Clermont and Hamilton counties approve a $60,000 Milford bridge project, to be funded by Hamilton $40,000 and Clermont $20,000, 280 feet span and six foot sidewalks.
