Driver Seriously Injured In Route 50 Truck Crash

A pickup collided with an oil tanker on Backbone Hill near Owensville. William A. Kidwell, 37, of near Owensville, is in serious condition with a skull fracture at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. The tanker driver Russell Kuykendoll, not injured, reported rain contributes to the crash. An ambulance from Craver Funeral Home transported Kidwell to hospital.

Boy Hurt In Fall From Moving Car Near Newtonsville

Ronald Trapp five year old son of Mr and Mrs Lester Trapp of Xenia Road near Newtonsville suffered severe head lacerations and cuts when he fell from a moving car near the Roadside Park on Route 131 Monday His mother said he opened the car window and accidentally turned the door handle He was treated at Children's Hospital with no fractures and returned home after care for the injuries

Batavia Surgeon Named Clermont County Health Commissioner

Dr. Francis M. Oxley, a Batavia surgeon with Cincinnati ties, was appointed Clermont County Commissioner of Health by the Board of Health in Batavia. He succeeds Dr. William H. Gaskins and has long served as UC clinical surgery instructor and head of the rectal clinic.

Wheat Crop Destroyed by Fire Near Crosstown

A spark from a combine exhaust started a fire on Harold Newberry's farm near Crosstown on Route 1. Williamsburg volunteers, led by Chief Ernest Weak, contained the blaze to three acres of wheat with eight additional acres burned before control was established.

Local Attorney Attends Chicago GOP Convention

Batavia attorney Wortest E. Ely serves as an alternate delegate from the Sixth District to the Republican National Convention in Chicago. Clermont County Republicans Harry Kahle and Thomas Pierson also attend, with Ely working at Taft headquarters and joining sessions at the Hilton Hotel. Ely previously attended the 1948 convention in Philadelphia and the 1940 convention as an alternate.

Shooting Victim In Fair Condition At Christ Hospital

Howard C. Smith remained listed in fair condition at Christ Hospital after a shotgun wound to the leg. He was wounded during a argument with his wife Margie Smith at their Bantam Twin Bridges home last week. Margie Smith filed a warrant accusing him of assault with intent to kill. She told Sheriff Clyde Dericks that Smith threatened to kill her and their home.

Norwood Man Fined On Assault Charge

Norwood resident Cleman E. Farmer 26 was fined 200 dollars and costs after arraignment before Justice Nellie Mattox on an assault and battery charge. The complaint was filed by Charlotte Herrmann of Norwood.

County Grand Jury To Meet July 28

Clermont County Prosecuting Attorney Ray Bradford announced the grand jury will convene July 28 to hear more than 40 cases. Among them is the case of Carl J. Nause of Newtonsville charged with premeditated murder in the chair slaying of Jack Dexter near Loveland after Nause found his wife drinking with Dexter. The panel may stay up to four days to handle the heavy docket.

Youth Arrested On Assault Charge Held for Hearing

Eckhart an 18 year old of Quarry Street faces an assault charge and will appear before Mayor J F Paschal for a hearing on Saturday. The girl's parents filed the complaint and the youth is out on a $500 bond.
