New Richmond Ohio July 8 1907 ex treasurer Thomas P White writes to clarify a county surplus left after his 1886 retirement He recounts how a clerical error and delayed settlement created funds in the treasury which were deposited as a trust with the First National Bank to be kept until a proper audit By 1888 an investigation found a $269 89 error and the amount was distributed to correct funds while White and Judge Frank Davis defend their roles as honest actors.

Mrs Jacob Linegar of Mt Repose was found dead in her chair last week. Physicians said she had been dead about two hours after arising in good health despite heart trouble. The coroner ruled the death natural. She leaves a husband and was highly regarded by neighbors.

A Colored man named Baker opened fire after a dispute over a game, killing both men who were of Milford origin and now in Cincinnati. The mother, widow of Milford, attended the large funeral at Second M. E. church in East Milford.

Wind Freaks and Peculiar Windfall Tales of Saturday Night
Citizens recall the twin cyclones that swept Saturday and Sunday shredding fences and trees. Jim Yancey found a five ore coin transformed into a foot tall tree stump in his yard, while a park tree toppled and sprang into his yard as if planted by design. A buggy horse and buggy were lifted aloft by wind on a hilltop, threatening flight to another township before settling. A large shade tree near Mrs. Bishops’ home was snapped at ground level and iron fencing panels crushed. The storm later ramified to Boston and Hillboro, then exhausted near the Highland county hills.
