Batavia's Fourth of July celebration featured aerial stunts and races led by Prof. Huxley Weaver and local competitors. A sudden rainstorm halted events. participants including Ed Day, Ora Frasier, and William Apple staged daring runs and a free for all dash won by Clint Markley. Evening fireworks were postponed to next week.

County Prosecution Fees Cut In Twelve Mile Turnpike Case

Prosecutor Dan Murphy told the Clermont county commissioners the county would stop funding both sides in lawsuits. He will prosecute the Twelve Mile high bid turnpike injunction, seek a perpetual injunction, and require private counsel if residents want to resist. The board withdrew an award to Ed Hawkins and passed a resolution to avoid future high fees for Bishop and Dover.

Weary Woman of Williamsville Ends Woes

Mrs. Mary Newland aged 48 committed suicide by hanging using a sheet rope after a long history of mental decline and fear of being sent to an asylum. Her husband works as a blacksmith on the traction line and a married daughter, Mrs. Bazzill, lives in Brooklyn. Burial drew many friends.

Rumors say Pennsylvania desires to buy the C. G. and P. railway to control a profitable feeder earning about $60,000 annually in freight. Inspectors studied bridges and receipts, hinting at a coal hauling expansion with river connections at Ripley. First National Guard units begin eight day summer outing at Camp Perry starting July 11 with eight days pay. Other brigades encamp July 12 to 20 and July 20 to 27, through September. Turnpike bonds approved by Clermont county commissioners

Clermont county Ohio commissioners approved a $23,000 bond issue following a Supreme Court ruling. Bonds will be issued in $1,000 denominations dated July 1 1900 with tenors up to 20 years and interest at 4 percent payable in one sum. maturities spread from 1926 to 1938.

General Holter visited last week and viewed veterans rosters from company E of the 22d Ohio and company F of the 50th Ohio. Only a few master officers and staff remain, with most non commissioned staff deceased. Muster details show 108 officers and men in EB 22d Ohio in 1861, with only a fraction living today. The 1861 company F muster was 60, of which 14 remain.

Visit of Veteran Bol. M. J. W. Holter in Town

Bol M J W Holter, who served from the three months service to the ent war and ended as brigadier general, appeared in town Saturday after recovering from illness.
