Family squabble ends with brother-in-law stabbed
Jimmy B. Mayer, 19, of Loveland stabbed Evan Hodge, 38, at 339 Sylvian Drive after a confrontation over their mother. Hodge was stabbed in the chest shoulder and stomach at 1 a.m. Thursday and taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. Mayer claims self defense. investigators say charges will not be filed.

Two drivers were injured in separate weekend crashes. Robert L. Freese, 59, of 824 Mt. Pisgah Road, sustained multiple lacerations when his vehicle left Rt. 132 near Lindale and struck a tree, later transferred between hospitals. Willien A. Taylor, 28, of 157 Clark Street Bethel, received leg abrasions after his car rolled off Rt. 125 near D-X Ranch. he was cited for speed excessive for conditions by Trooper Nick Morris.

Tavern Owner Arrested Over Fireworks Sales
Moscow reports tavern owner Ben Armstrong 31 was arrested on a fireworks sales charge after deputies seized 300 packs of firecrackers. An undercover deputy used a marked $5 bill to buy $3 worth of explosives at the tavern. Armstrong posted $50 bond and was released. The Marathon Grange meeting moves from July 5 to July 12.
