August Rohr Rohn of Glen Este dies at his sister Mrs Ida F Aebi s Fairmount home January 19 1908. He was buried January 24 in Walnut Hills cemetery after two years of bronchitis that progressed to consumption. A hard industrious worker on his father Jacob Rohrs Glen Este farm he leaves three brothers.
Frederick Reichart aged 72 shot and killed himself last Sunday at his son's home. He left a note saying he could endure suffering no longer and felt driven to take this drastic step for relief. He was a cousin of Attorney Bambach, involved in a court case here this week.
The revival at the M, BH church led by Rev Bailey and assisted by Rev Horn of Georgetown closed last Sunday night. Many joined the church and a class of about six bright young girls expressed desire to unite. Rev Batley will travel to Georgetown in two weeks to assist Rev Horn in a similar series.
A Clermont county commissioners session was held to address the disappearance of the 1952 county report. George Wyatt proposed a resolution requiring the auditor to produce or duplicate the missing document for immediate publication, with Sutton and Wyatt voting yea and Woods voting nay.
Yesterday at noon at the bride’s parents home Union Chapel Charles Syler and Miss Aliee Black were joined in holy wedlock by Rev H J Frank. Intimate friends witnessed the ceremony and refreshments followed. The groom is Max Syler’s oldest son and a thrifty young farmer. the bride a charming young woman. Today a reception and informal affair will be held at the groom’s parents’ home above town with many friends offering congratulations.
John Miller a Kapp Bros. salesman marries Miss Mollie Burnett this afternoon at her Water Street home in Batavia. Rev. Howard Billman officiates. The couple will depart on an eight o clock wedding tour and return to their friends as Mr. and Mrs. Miller.
Edward Miller and Miss Clara A Mossbacker wed at the bride’s Water street home in Batavia. Rev H J Frank officiated before close relatives. The Miller family connections include multiple January 21 marriages across years. An anniversary party followed at the Miller home on January 22 with about fifty guests. Harry T Galladay and Miss Sarah Louise Karns married at Batavia A B parsonage January 22 1903 by Rev H J Frank. Best wishes for happiness are extended.
A report describes a New York bunko scheme last week where a performer covers three fingers of the left hand with the right to mislead a victim. The con artist tricks the target into guessing a third Angel, with the victim repeatedly losing due to a twisting of fingers that deceives the eye.
Attorney General Sheeta declares the state game warden lacks authority to seize plumage and hat decorations. The department may only bring proceedings against dealers, not treat live game as in dispute. Women wearing such plumage are not subject to arrest and pre-law purchases are exempt.

Oldest residents recall no prior knowledge of the shaft with hints it was an old gold seeker's wash pit. Marshal Kain had the cavity filled Monday as locals inspected the site.
Ottawa County Kansas honors Judge Sam Apple in retirement after three terms. The long serving probate judge, known for exact records kept in his own handwriting, stepped down January 14. He performed many marriages including on Christmas and Thanksgiving Sundays.
Batavia resembled a country village for hours as a power outage left the town in thick darkness. Grocerymen sold tallow candles while coal oilers were brought out, and streets after a late mercy of bulky machinery finally dimmed the darkness. Frank B. Mills a prominent attorney from Wilmington went to Cincinnati for a poultry show. After a single drink he became violent and fired twice at Frank Curtis in a dye house. Arrested and later released as he claimed no memory of the incident.

The new Masonic Temple at Georgetown was dedicated last Thursday night with Grand Lodge officers presiding. The evening featured the conferral of the M. M. degree and a banquet. Brethren attended from across the district, including a Batavia delegation led by J. S. Parrott and others, with participants from J. B. Covert Lodge Tabasco and from Newtown, Columbia, Bethel, and additional points.
The Ohio Dairyman's Association meets in Columbus February 12 and 15 drawing interest for farmers. The Central Passenger Association grants a rate of one and one third fare with a full fare ticket to Columbus and an excursion certificate from the agent.
