Coffey Wins 24th Courier Stork Derby

John Raymond Coffey son of Sue and Ray Coffey of Washington Street New Richmond wins the Courier stork derby. He weighs six pounds. Attending physician Dr. John Powell. Welcomed by sister Diana and brother Robert. Other birth Victoria Lynne Stratton Jan 3 weighs 7 pounds 4 ounces. Gifts from local businesses accompany the derby honors.

New Clermont County Judge Hills First Jury Case

Judge Ralph A. Hill seated on the Clermont County Common Pleas bench for the first time Monday. His initial jury case was settled before a bench challenge. Hill previously served as a County Court judge. The oath session was led by outgoing Judge Harold D. Nichols who gave Hill a gavel carved from Batavia’s original courthouse plank. Nichols also presented a plan to pass the gavel to successors as court equipment. Mrs Rosemary Cribbet will remain as staff stenographer and secretary. Carson resigned after 12 years in the county sheriff’s department to take the new post. Garner was mentioned in passing.

Conover Heads Clermont Work Plan 1971 Meeting

Conover heads the Clermont Work Plan for 1971 at a general membership meeting on Thursday January 14 at 8 pm in the C G E Auditorium Batavia Ohio. All members are urged to attend and others interested in county business development are welcome. Glass Damage at Milford High School

Vandalism at Milford High School last week caused about 1500 in damage to windows and doors. Breakage occurred with soft drink bottles in the front of the building between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. on Wednesday Dec 30. Police and sheriff teams are investigating. residents with information are asked to help.

The Bethel-Tate Area will sponsor another production by Lee's Junior College touring company. Lee's plan to meet this week to work out details for the performance date time and place. Last year the company presented Our Town in the area and Davison noted the decision to sponsor again.

Milford Men Die From Personal Safety Related Wounds

Two Milford men Wallace Query 27 died at 8 p m in his parents apartment 10 Robbie Ridge and Jamies F Fox 19 died from gunshot wounds in separate weekend incidents. Query's services were set for 10 30 a m Thursday at Quentin K Staley Funeral Home Deer Park with burial at Rest Haven. Fox funeral arrangements were handled locally with services held at a local church. Surviving relatives include their parents and a brother for Query.

Kenneth Eppich is named director of marketing at Clermont National Bank by Donald L. McWhorter. New Bridge Work Started on SR 131 Replacement

Work began January 4 on replacing the SR 131 bridge over Stonelick Creek west of Newtonsville. Jones Construction Co. of Norwood won the $378,912 contract on October 14. Fifteen local workers will be employed with an estimated payroll of $140,000 and completion set for September 30.
