The Independent Farmers Institute held December 27 and 28 1921 at the Community Baptist Church Nichols ville proved a great success. Officers elected for 1922 include W P Corbin president and W G Corbin vice president. The meeting approved state aid and a future institute. James Stone of the Burley Tobacco Growers Association spoke on marketing and planned merchandising of pool tobacco and not dumping it. The work ahead for handling 55 000 Burley growers was detailed with emphasis on a grading system receiving forms and staffing to run a multi million dollar enterprise.

Ed Weeks of Bethel pleaded guilty before Judge Young to possessing liquor. He was fined 500 dollars plus costs and ordered held at Dayton workhouse until payment.
