Damage suit filed for 50000 in Clermont County

Daisy Rains administratrix of Betty Foley state 17 of New Richmond files a $50,000 damage suit in Clermont County Common Pleas Court. Foley died Sept 98 riding a bicycle on Route 52 at Pt Pleasant when struck by a car driven by William K. Mueller of Newport Kentucky.

Grange to Observe 20th Anniversary

The Batavia Grange marks its twentieth anniversary with a March 4 potluck supper at 6 30 p m in the U B Church basement followed by a program. An insurance agent was robbed of 200 last Thursday night. no suspect identified and investigators continued leads.

Meyer awarded 7500 in auto crash case in Clermont County

Raymond Meyer received 7500 in the Clermont County Common Pleas Court last week after suing William Boothby for injuries from a December 22 1946 auto accident near Hamlet. Meyer sought 15000 as damages for the wreck.

Plans for surfacing Clermont County highways completed

The 1948 Surface Treating program plans for Clermont County highways are completed and bidding will occur soon. By year end the department expects 15.12 miles of resurfacing amounting to 31.24 percent of Clermont County state highways, a share above the state average. Plans also seek to raise low portions of State Route 132 north of New Richmond for flood access. The Mt. Carmel Grange No. 975 meets 8 PM Wednesday March 6 with safety pictures by Fred Winters. A traffic violator report identifies a James Fisher not linked to the J A Fisher Oil Company of Williamsburg.

Loveland Boy Drowns After Ice Break at O Ban Ion Creek

Eight year old Jerry Calvert, son of Mr and Mrs Roy Calvert of Twenty Mille Stand, drowned Monday when he broke through the ice on O Ban ion Creek. Firemen fought five hours to revive him. Former resident Harry Harding husband of Alberta Eddingfield Harding died Wednesday February 25 in Newark Ohio. The notice notes the couple had lived in Loveland and that Mrs and Mrs Charles Horstman of Rt 2 Amelia share birthdays on the date.

Loveland Man Takes Life

A Loveland man died by self-inflicted means at home between 8 and 9 am after a three month illness. The body was taken to Tufts Funeral Home in Loveland and funeral arrangements were not available at press time.

Tournament nears climax with Batavia Amelia clash

The fifth Clinton County basketball tourney round was set for Wednesday at Williamsburg with Batavia vs Amelia and Williamsburg vs Goshen. Results were unavailable at press time. Henry Parrott and George Rabe have opened a tombstone and monument business in Newtown, representing McKinley Monument Company in Town sales. The Royal Neighbors of Newtown plan their February 26 meeting.

Robertson Brothers Bound Over To Grand Jury

Ralph Norval and Ernest Robertson of Lindale are bound over to the grand jury with $200 bond each on a charge of taking a wheel and groceries from Joe Andersons vehicle. Ralph Robertson had earlier been fined $100 and costs with $75 suspended by Batavia Mayor A C Munden for possessing a light from another vehicle. Evidence linked the wheel to a Cincinnati firm.

Grand Jury to Open in Clermont County

The Clermont County grand jury will convene on Thursday to consider several important cases including a fatal shooting and charges of rape. The exact list of cases to be heard has not been released by Prosecuting Attorney Ray Bradford.
