Advance Planning Loan For Sewers Approved

Congressman William H Harsha announced a 139000 federal loan for advance planning of a Clermont County sewer system in the Miami Goshen Stonelick area and part of Pierce Township, with a 3.7 million project scope. Ohio Senators Lauche and Young pledged help securing a later construction grant.

Deputy Registrars Named for March 1 License Sale

Fred Rice of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles lists deputy registrars for the March 1 auto license sale. Buyers are urged to specify their exact taxing district on applications to ensure proper credit of funds returned for highway construction and maintenance. Street Variance Granted for Industrial Park Access

A new street named Omani Dr will connect with Aicholtz Rd in Summerside, run 1150 feet to a 19 acre tract including a five acre industrial park site. The planning commission and county engineer supported the variance since drainage avoids gutters and curbs and a sidewalk is unnecessary. The commissioners urged reporting on county building code amendments ahead of a March 17 state hearing. Engineer Carl Rush will oversee culvert work on Tollgate Rd and Monterey-Maple Grove Rd. Lloyd W. Reeve was hired as utility man inspector for MGS Water System with pay rising from 1.70 to 1.75 per hour. A humane society lease will be negotiated with Thomas C. Justice. Other actions include reappointments and new appointments to the Clermont County Council for the Retarded Children and related terms.

Rhodes Sees Unlimited Potential For Clermont County

Gov. James A. Rhodes outlined a broad growth plan for Clermont County urging unity in politics and community action. He highlighted education gains including a $2 million UC branch and a planned tri county college, plus $5 million in K-12 projects and vocational schooling. He touted highway and river utilities expansion, Ohio financing support, and a $100 000 airport aid to spur industry and tourism.

Village Ordinance Curbing Unsafe Buildings Enacted

NEW RICHMOND an emergency ordinance to inspect regulate and remove insecure and structurally defective buildings has been passed by the village council. The inspector may enter any building at reasonable hours after identifying himself and fines up to 50 dollars apply for access refusals. Owners get 30 days to fix followed by 15 days if needed before demolition and tax assessment of demolition costs.

News notes new officers for the Hawks 4-H Club including a recreation leader and a first aid officer. Each member plans to sell three dozen Easter eggs for profit and to raise funds for the 4-H camp. The next meeting is set for 10 30 a m in March.

Man Charged In Station Looting

Sherman Byrd aged 38 of 33 Peete Street Norwood faces a 4 p.m. hearing in Clermont County Court on breaking and entering during the night season. He was arrested after fleeing police at the Mobil Oil Station at Main and Riverside Batavia with 209 dollars in cash and the owner’s papers, William E. Turner of Owensville. He broke a window to enter the station.

Judge chides loan firm over profit rate in bankruptcy case

Public Finance Corp of Cincinnati lost its suit against Lemnie Moore Sr. in Clermont County court. Judge Harold D. Nichols ruled the bank failed to show it relied on Moore's bankruptcy disclosure in approving a loan rewrite from 1780 to 2234 dollars. The judge noted the high charges and low new money, and questioned the firm’s handling of a car repossession and sale notice.
