Controversy Aims at Clermont County Mental Health Leader

A faction of the Clermont County Mental Health Center Board filed charges against David Gerwe, executive director of the 648 Board, at the Feb 16 meeting at Clermont County Hospital. The letter cites communication conflicts, staff harassment claims, and critiques of board oversight.

Marijuana seizures total 26 pounds in Clermont area

Police recovered 12 pounds valued at 7200 under a warrant at 2864 Jackson Pike on Feb 11. On Feb 12 Sgt George Woods found 13 pounds in a Batavia garbage bag and a pound nearby. Authorities say the Acapulco Gold Mexican variety linked to a larger trafficking network.

Clermont County HUD fund pre-application approved

Clermont County's pre-application for 1976 State Clearing House funding totaling 444 506 covers nine projects. Major items include a relocation study for Ohio Route 28 through Milford and Goshen, a county housing specialist, Bethel and Tate Township development, Youth Services Bureau continuation, and drainage improvement planning. HUD review expected in 30 to 60 days.

Milford area pushes third SR 28 lane to relieve congestion

The Milford Area Chamber of Commerce launched a campaign to widen SR 28 to three lanes through Milford and Goshen Townships. Attendees included chamber president Wayne Floren, SR 28 project coordinator Ken Eppich, and former Milford mayor Nancy Storch, with plans to appeal state officials and mobilize civic groups. The effort follows an ad hoc committee active since spring 1975, aiming to ease delays on SR 131 US 50 and SR 28, improve safety for Milford students and shoppers, and reduce congestion in the business district.

Corps of Engineers reject Moscow's request for aid

The U S Army Corps of Engineers refused to aid Moscow with severe erosion threatening century old homes. Public Affairs Officer Martin Pedigo cited lack of authority to protect private property. Mayor Flora said erosion began after the Meldah Dam upstream and asked for buoy markers to steer tow boats in the channel.

CORVA seeks medical clinic funds for Goshen area

The Health Planning Association of the Ohio River Valley seeks a federal grant from HEW totaling 73510 to help build a Goshen area medical clinic costing 99750. Clermont officials say Medicaid and sliding scale fees would cover the remainder in year one. The clinic would serve about 20000 residents across Goshen Jackson and Wayne Townships and relieve overcrowding at Batavia.
