Clermont County Historical Society president Harry Reed Appel warns that discarded old letters documents and books may hold priceless value for future historians. The society has catalogued some items and will soon make them available to researchers. commissioners provide storage insured for the collection. Mt Carmel Girl Wins Junior Handler Title at Westminster

Pat Hardy a 12 year old from Mt Carmel wins first place in the junior handler competition at Westminster Dog Show in Madison Square Garden New York City. She showed Golden Retriever Bardfields Lindsay Royall and earns the sterling silver tray and rosette as the top junior handler among 50 contestants. Her win marks a historic local triumph per Cincinnati Kennel Club president Bud Schulte.

SBA Approves 229000 Loan for Clermont Industrial Parks

Representative William H. Harsha announces the Small Business Administration approved a 229000 loan to Clermont Industrial Parks Inc in Cincinnati to buy land build a facility and buy machinery for expanding Adge Inc producers of electronic control panels. The expansion will create 17 jobs in Union Township Batavia Ohio.

Write-In Campaigns Narrowed on May Ballot

Eight candidate write-ins for precinct committee posts were rejected for insufficient signatures or incomplete declarations. Bonnie Lou Waits led a lone American Independent Party filing but failed to meet signature requirements. Additional rejections affected Lois Hancock Lena Utter Earl Moore Virginia Cbertson Charles Crouthers Willis Peterson and James True. A new state rule requires a filed statement of intent by April 15 to count write-ins, extending to village posts.

Men Fined For Resisting Game Protector

Two Cincinnati men were convicted in Clermont County Court on charges by Game Protector Robert Fife. Herbert Rowan was fined 500 dollars with 300 suspended and costs. Richard Whiting received 500 dollars with 400 suspended plus 50 dollars and costs for failure to exhibit a hunting license. The incident occurred January 3 on the Harold Rowan farm near Marathon on Glaney Corner Marathon Road.

Hamilton County officials eye a second Milford bridge using State Bond Issue I funds. The plan hinges on engineers recommendation, with a decision possible in two to three weeks. Clermont led the list, awaiting Hamilton’s agreement on funding of 450000 for construction.

Felicity sewer project approved by commission

Clermont County Commissioners approved a 647 500 sewer system for Felicity with a 267 500 federal grant. Financing includes 200 000 revenue bonds and 180 000 in assessments over 20 years at 7 percent, with bids due March 20.

Clermont County Plans Financing for New County School for the Retarded

County officials signed notes totaling 1 025 000 to finance a new school for the retarded on a year to year basis hoping for lower rates later. Commissioners may issue notes up to five years while awaiting bonds. Treasurer and auditor authorized to invest the issue in US Treasury notes until construction starts. Bond issue approved in November. bids on water and sewer work were opened with Byrnes Conway low bidder for both sewer and water. The firm previously handled water and sewer contracts and was called out early Sunday to repair a water main break affecting Amelia.
