The Clermont County Teachers Association met in Amelia on a Saturday session. Members debated public school exhibitions, approved a policy favoring well conducted events, and discussed education for both sexes. Dr. A V Hopkins spoke on physical education. An evening session addressed whether females should receive as much education as males. They planned essays on teaching as a profession, county superintendents, and other education topics for the April 1847 meeting.
A meeting of physicians from Clermont, Brown, and Adams counties at Smith's Hotel Georgetown January 21 1847 organized a District Mysorean Association for mutual learning and professional welfare. Officers were elected Buckner president Bailey vice president Wylie secretary Mullin treasurer. Committees on constitution ethics prices and censors established. Next meeting set for first Wednesday in May at Georgetown.

He condemns American vanity and urges truth telling over pandering to self conceit in the public.
