Jurist Overrules Demurrer in Dump Case

Judge George W. McDowell in Hillsboro overruled a demurrer in the Clermont County Health Board fight to force Claude Jackson to close a Glen Este area dump. The ruling leaves the case undecided pending action on Jackson’s injunction request and the health board’s next move.

Newtonsville Blaze Causes $3,000 Damage at Home

A late Tuesday fire at Hager Lykins's Newtonsville home caused about $3,000 in damage. Most of the second story burned and the roof was gutted. Downstairs furnishings suffered heavy water damage. First on scene were Newtonsville Fire Department under Chief Vernor Dye, joined by Owensville firemen led by Assistant Chief Lloyd Lohrer. Perry Justice of Owensville police also responded.

River floods recede as towns return to normal life

Ohio River floodwaters covered Route 52 at Point Pleasant delaying traffic last week. The Grant Memorial Bridge reopened and the river dropped below the fifty foot mark. Residents from New Richmond and nearby towns are resuming daily routines as families return home with belongings.

Rides and babysitters for Williamsville blood drive

Williamsville- Tabasco residents will receive free transportation and babysitters during the blood donor campaign at the school from 1 to 7 pm Friday February 15. Rites Held For Withamsville Crash Victim

Rites were held for William Prendergast 64 of Withamsville at St Thomas More Church after a traffic crash near his home on State Route 125. He died Monday night at Bethesda Hospital Cincinnati from head ankle and rib injuries suffered when a milk truck driven by Boyd Jackson swerved to miss him. Clermont County's second traffic fatality of the year follows John Madden who died January 27 when his car overturned near Neville.

Man Fined for Leaving Crash Scene

Sardinia Mayor F E Dunn fined Floyd Abrams of Rotte 4 Batavia fifty dollars plus costs for leaving the scene of an accident. Abrams was arrested in Owenisville by Sardinia Police Chief E L Sears.

Ten Countians Seek Commissioner Office in May Primary

Clermont County voters face a crowded field as ten residents seek the county commissioner nomination for the May 6 primary. Eight Republicans and two Democrats filed by the deadline, with candidates including Harold L. Windeler, C. A. Ungelhaem, Ernest Ruffner, Peter Urban, Albert S. Colby, A. A. Brown, Ezra Seyler, E. C. Peterson among Republicans, and Charles F. Clark and John W. Houser among Democrats.

Larceny Trial Delayed by Missing Indiana Police Evidence

George Western of Muncie Indiana faced a delayed grand larceny trial in Clermont County Common Pleas Court after two Indiana officers failed to appear to testify. Judge Harry Britton permitted a later hearing date. Western is accused of stealing a farm trailer from J J Johnston Neville and two bicycles from Ross Blackburn of Chile valued at 90 dollars. Mae Western, his wife, holds a three year probation for her role.
