Workmen on the C P and Y road uncovered a large hollow stump containing a ball the size of a tub. A kick sent it into a fire where it melted to reveal 563 snakes of various species. The ball burst and the snakes wriggled, shocking Glazier and his crew who vouched for the odd tale as the season’s spring opener.
