President's Day ordinarily a court holiday brings a 2 p.m. expungement hearing led by Judge Love in Montgomery County for a former county commissioner convicted of bribery in 1981. The filing details show a five year post conviction window to clear a record and seal files. nominating petitions were withdrawn due to the conviction affecting ballot eligibility.

Groundbreaking date set for Clermont County wing addition

Clermont County plans a third wing addition to the Medical Social Services Building at 2291 Bauer Rd. Groundbreaking is targeted for June 1. The two story addition will add about 45 000 square feet, bringing total space to support Human Services Health Building Inspection and other agencies. Bids planned for May 1 with completion aimed by mid 1987.

Video Barn owner seeks dismissal in obscenity case

Attorney H Louis Sirkin filed Jan 29 in Clermont County clerk’s office for dismissal of two pandering obscenity charges against Vicki Emerson owner of Video Barn. Emerson’s three day trial ended without verdict after jurors could not agree. Jury previously could not reach a verdict and Prosecutor George Pattison plans a retrial.

Superintendent named for SODC Batavia

John H. Santose 39 of Wooster is named new superintendent at the Southwest Ohio Developmental Center in Batavia. He succeeds Ronald C. Boley, who returns to Mt. Vernon Center after leading the transitional team. Boley helped select Santose and will have three Mt. Vernon staff transferred to Batavia.

Road money travels toward Ohio highway project

Early settlers homes live a second life today in Clermont

In Clermont County many historic homes remain inhabited, including a two story frame house at 1903 Old SR 28 Goshen. Built decades ago, it once served as an inn. in 1828 Andrew Jackson stayed there as he journeyed from his home to Washington for his inauguration, with the proprietor being Jonathan Jackson.
