John Flora known as Bhorty and serving as Palace hotel door keeper in Cincinnati proposed to wed every woman he met. Friends noted temporary derangement and sent him home for treatment in Amelia where he is expected to recover and rethink the plan.
James Preston of New Richmond shot at his wife on Thanksgiving Day after she left with a son for Cincinnati. The woman and boy were wounded but likely to recover while Preston is critically wounded and may die. A revolver was used and a letter from another man cited in motive.
Dan Hamilton sold horse raffle numbers from 1 to 86 raising about 35 dollars. Charles Hoerner drew number 21 as the winner in a system with two hats and blanks. The process involved matching a withdrawn blank with a number held in the opposite hand to designate the winner. Hoerner's horse netted roughly 21 cents to the owner.

In Sabina the boys took over the schoolhouse after a legend hung on the door stating they would not let the teachers, five in number, have a treat. Shadrach Dial died at his Mt. Holly home after a brief pneumonia illness. Born in Batavia township in 1815, he served as county treasurer in 1859 and led Olive Branch Fair Board in 1863. A longtime M E church member, he was esteemed countywide and uncle to Fielding Dial. He leaves a widow and son Wilber. funeral arrangements pending.
Lon Freeze Wallace and Peter Martin were jailed by Loveland city marshal after a scuffle. They caused damage in the town hall lockup and were fined 25 dollars and sentenced to 60 days in the workhouse. The Loveland council may turn them over to the sheriff for malicious destruction of property in spring.
Helen Vereen presents a fine evening at Bantam's Presbyterian church on Thursday evening December 1 for the Ladies' Aid Society. Miss Elsie Cullum of Cincinnati performs violin solos with Mrs Minnie Cullum and Misses Dean sing. Louis Ballhouse and Selah Cox add readings and trombone pieces. Tickets cost 10 16 and 2 cents. Hood's Sarsaparilla advertised.
