Sprague Maham Case Ends in Acquittal After Nine Day Trial

George Sprague, charged with the May murder of Homer Maham, was acquitted after a nine day trial before Judge Parrott and a jury. The defense argued self defense as 175 witnesses were heard. verdicts on seven counts were unanimous for acquittal. Sprague celebrated with his wife and family, then fainted from the strain. The scene drew tears and praise for both sides as Sprague embraced his jurors and children.

The United States Telephone Company plans half a million dollars in improvements centered on independent long distance service. It already runs about 18 000 miles of wire mainly in Ohio and intends to add 8 000 more. Citizens' Telephone Company of this place, led by W H Baum, is part of the United States system and local residents and Clermont County and Ohio residents take note.
