Whig Nation Convention nominates Harrison after long debate

The Harrisburg and Baltimore Patriot report on the December 6 1839 Whig National Convention in Harrisburg. Harrison is chosen as the presidential candidate after extensive balloting and vocal support from Kentucky Virginia Maryland New York and other delegations with Clay and Scott respectfully yielding to unite behind Harrison. Tyler named for vice president. The letter from Henry Clay and speeches emphasize union and national prosperity.
