County tax base increase boosts valuations across districts
County Auditor Arnold Stumpf announced a state approved plan that raises the tax base by 30 million dollars, 13 percent overall, with 23 million from readjusted sales-based values and 7 million from new construction. He notes automatic across the board boosts would harm new builders and lower priced homes, and explains how millage and levies interact with the 154 bill limit to set current rates. Several townships and municipalities show varied rate changes, while a fire damaged nearby businesses with Red Cross aid and a church card party are also on the page.
