Calvin Church installs new pastor and elders in Detroit area

The Calvin Church in Bern announces the installation of Pastor Milio along with Elder Allen White and Mr. John Wisemen, with Judy Milio as his bride. Milio, a Detroit native educated at Wayne State University, earned a cum laude Bachelor of Arts and a cum laude Bachelor of Divinity in 1965, and has extensive inner city and immigrant church experience and aims to build lay leadership and community outreach.

Sewage Plants Malfunctioning in Clermont County

Inspection shows two major plants near Willowville in the Union Tor system not functioning properly after extensive post January repairs by Chicago Pump Co. All subdivisonal plants handed to the county are in good condition except Fernell Heights. Viking Village and Summer Estates in Summer and Miami Townships have functioning plants, with one in Miami Township facing a court case over effluent on private property. Clermont Jury Indicts 11 and Ignores Two Cases

Clermont County grand jury returned indictments against Donald L. Seibers Jr. Danny Seibers Charles Hatfield Gary Bowers John Coyne Richard Dahlheimer and others for crimes including carrying concealed weapons burglary larceny by trick and obtaining property under false pretenses. Several cases were ignored and the report notes a county SPCA talk and bids on insulating the dog pound.

Gerald J. Karches elected president of Civ Chapter

Gerald J. Karches was elected president of the Civ Chapter, Commissioned Officers Association of the U.S. Health Service, succeeding Paul F. Woolrich. New officers include Dr. William S. Lainhart as vice president Richard J. Van Tuinen as secretary and Dr. Shih Lu Chang as treasurer. Karches serves as assistant chief of Radicological Health Ray Activities in the Public Service Division. Van Tuinen is a sanitarian in the Corps and works on a health training program at General Hospital. He resides at 753 Loda Drive Williamsville.

Nichols Named Jury Official For U S Court

Batavia attorney Hugh L. Nichols has been named U S jury commissioner for the 10 county Cincinnati district court replacing Max Hirsch who resigned last month. Nichols is a Batavia School Board member and partner in Nichols Speidel Nichols law firm. He is son of Clermont County Common Pleas Court Judge Harold D. Nichols and a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law. His recent published opinion in an American Notary libel suit outlines deposition guidelines for court reporters.

Town Plans Survey of Bad Buildings in Batavia

Batavia officials will survey unsafe and unsightly structures in January to decide on repair or demolition. Three sites have already been cleaned up under a village ordinance. The council may hold a special meeting Monday to discuss water system upgrades and a 450000 treatment plant project funded partly by a federal grant. Parking meters will be suspended Dec 19 to Dec 26.

Break Possible For Some Union Township People

County commissioners, after a meeting with plumbers, will not enforce the sewer hookup penalty for homeowners with permits and contracts for work in Union Township. Homeowners must authorize the first of the year sewer bill, to be obtained by the plumber.

Saxbe Pushes Minimum Wage Fund For Ohio Lawmen

Ohio Attorney General William B. Saxbe proposes that 10 to 15 percent of fines go to a state fund to establish a minimum wage for police and deputy sheriffs. He announced the plan at the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association meeting and aims to present it to the next legislature. Jurisdictional fines from city ordinances and state laws would feed the fund.

West Clermont school taps Everett Park as new leader

Everett E. Park, 41, assistant superintendent of Franklin City schools, is named head of West Clermont schools on a three year contract starting Jan 13 with a salary of 15 800 plus 500 increments in years two and three. Park, a Chillicothe native and WWII veteran, holds degrees from Olivet College and Marshall University and is pursuing a doctorate at Ohio State. He and his wife Nellie have two sons. The board also approved plans for new elementary and high school additions and accepted several resignations and hires.

Youth Organ Concert by 13-Year-Old Batavia Resident

Johnny Garner, a 13 year old Batavia 8th grader, will give an organ concert Friday December 23 from 7 00 to 730 at the Court House Corner. He serves as 8th grade vice president and Batavia MYF secretary and participates in 4 H, Pop Club and First Methodist Church choir. He studies with John Quincy Bass of the UC Conservatory of Music and previously learned piano with Mrs Wilma Marugg. He also plays accordion autoharp and was first trumpet in the Batavia Junior Band. The public is invited to attend the Batavia Churches program that evening.

Man Bound Over On Check Charge In Clermont County

William N. Boling 41 of Bethel faces four bad check charges after appearing in Clermont County Court. He was bound over to the grand jury and fined 100 dollars and costs on two other charges. Dolores Habirthear of Batavia was ordered to post 100 dollars bond to ensure her son attends school. Richard Winder cited her. Joseph R. of New Richmond posted the same bond at Judge Louis J. Schwartz’s request.

Welfare Training Project Ends Amid Low Enrollment

The welfare training initiative cost 339000 for 180 participants but peaked at 97. a second year with 250000 aimed to train 1120 relievers yet enrollment is doubtful with only 62 in November. Batavia and Glen Este keep their perfect league records as Clermont County high school basketball resumes Friday. Batavia hosts Bethel while Glen Este visits Clermont Northeastern, with Amelia at Goshen and Felicity versus Williamsburg also on the card. Friday results include Amelia over Bethel 60-55 and Glen Este 65-52 over Felicity.

Bethel Tate and West Clermont reject school levies in special election

In Bethel Tate and West Clermont districts voters rejected operating levies for new district operations. Bethel Tate failed 813 against to 507 for, needing 726 to pass. West Clermont eight mill levy failed 2238 against to 1884 for, missing 2268 affirmative votes. Precinct tallies show broad defeat across Bethel Tate and West Clermont areas.
