The editor notes printing a half sheet for Saturday with the President's Message and adds another today to make one paper. Thomas H. Mixor, a Cincinnati merchant, died Saturday of typhoid fever, once a known resident of the county with many friends who regret his death.
Randal of Ashtabula Free Soil Whig was chosen Speaker and J. S. Knapp of Marion Locofoco was named Clerk after lengthy balloting. A PA dispatch notes James Arnold Loco won Sergeant at Arms on Tuesday morning, with Whig Senator Vinal casting the deciding vote on the 70th ballot, completing the Senate's organization.
The Journal of the Evening notes the House met at 10 o'clock and called the unrepresented districts with no responses. After time for certificates or acceptance of Whig compromise, the body adjourned to ten o'clock tomorrow. Senate actions on Monday are noted as light with a Sergeant-at-Arms elected. The Whigs again called roll in the House Tuesday, but no absentees responded, and adjournment followed.

In Colomsts on December 11 the Senate conducted ten ballotings for sergeant at arms with no choice.
