A two story frame house at Laurel was destroyed by fire last Monday. The upper floor housed Albert Turner and the lower floor housed Clayton Corbin’s grocery. The blaze started from a defective flue and no insurance existed.
At the Amelia MB church dedication on the 80th instant Reve A A Spahr and Homer C Middleton, well known Clermont ministers, will participate. The structure is praised by judges of beauty and art as perfect in its lines and fittings.

W W Perkins a long time Clermont county resident and one of its oldest Masons died after a brief illness at his Batavia home. A former sheriff elected in 1857 as the first Republican to hold the office, he later ran his farm and remained active in politics and Union support. He leaves a widow and three grown sons and was buried with Masonic rites led by Rev Bell.
