Officials dispute charges over sludge farm site in Clermont County

Clermont County officials face a lawsuit filed by Batavia Township residents seeking to halt a sludge farm on Ross Road. A Dec 16 hearing before Judge Louis J. Schwartz will decide temporary and permanent injunctions against distributing sewage sludge at the site.

Whitford reports easing personnel issues in sewer department

County administrator William Whitford says personnel problems in the sewer and water department have eased since his six week reorganization began. He cites improved supervisor employee relations and notes upcoming large projects will require hiring decisions and potential reassignments.

Clermont County Judge Erhardt Resigns End of Year

Clermont County Court Judge Chris Erhardt resigns effective Dec 31 to devote time to law practice. Russell J. Speidel to take over the seat in the new year. Other judges in office include Chris Rosenhoffer Laurence Carlier and Steve Durkee whose term ends Dec 31. Rhodes may seek Republican recommendations for the post. County Bicentennial Film Ready for Pay Dilemma

Clermont County Bicentennial film completed last summer and shown at the county fair remains unpaid due to questions over a money commitment. Filmart, Inc. alleges $5000 owed. committee president Sutton says no formal pledge existed. County will try to raise funds via film reprints at $1000 each with possible help from the Clermont County Historical Society.

Union Two bids for CDA funds for Union Township roads

Union Township trustee Lyndie McAfee reports a bid for community development funds to rehabilitate three roads in Union Township. Bargs Salt Run is the top priority due to chronic drainage and landslides. The project would widen roads to 18 feet and replace three bridges, with total costs near 2.67 million dollars and a grant cap of 500 thousand.
