Railroad sale planned by Cincinnati recorder

General Benjamin Franklin Coates as Special Master Commissioner will offer the Cincinnati and Eastern Railroad for sale at the Bradford building in Cincinnati on the first Wednesday in January 1887. The minimum price is set at 720000 dollars with a 200000 dollar cash deposit, following Albert Netter’s default on prior payments.

Rev William I Fee Honored On Urbana Seminary Centenary

The First M E Church of Urbana Ohio celebrated its semi centennial with living pastors including Rev William I Fee native of Clermont county and a popular preacher. He recalled wartime Urbana and the Lincoln assassination prayer meeting and recounted a 90 night revival that began with a child’s conversion and sparked widespread awakening with converts from a bar and a railroad worker. The event honored the venerable pastor and his long service.

Coal dealer J. W. Duckwall contracts barge coal loads

J. W. Duckwall of Batavia was in town yesterday contracting for several barge loads of coal to be shipped him over the Cincinnati and Eastern. Duckwall is a large coal dealer at Batavia.

Mapple Grove Church near completion in Maple Grove

The new Maple Grove church nears completion a 350 seat frame building on land donated by James Sadler. Built largely by nonmembers with small mite contributions, it reflects a principle of liberty of conscience and religious freedom. No minister has been secured yet amid the unique congregation.

Earning Report Shows Cincinnati Georgetown Portsmouth Line Gain

The Cincinnati Georgetown and Portsmouth Road reports November earnings up by over 1.43 million compared with the same month last year. Totals include freight sessions, express, and mail, with greater traffic than November prior. Townsley & Robinson of Batavia advertise cooking and heating stoves in the notice.
