Powder Explodes Injuring Boy Near Stonelick Farm
Three boys aged 10 to 12 found a sealed packing case near Backbone Hill and used a Flobert rifle to shoot at it. A discharged bullet ignited 150 pounds of giant powder stored on James L. Brown’s land, injuring Haworth badly and frightening the others. Haworth may die. Dr. Rutledge treated wounds in Owensville.

Mrs Sarah Meredith died recently after a long devout life. She was daughter of Rev William Simmons a noted Ohio divine and wife of Rev Charles Meredith pastor of the M E church in Batavia 1852 54. She leaves a sister Mrs Fred Relbold of Dayton and two sons William of Springfield and Edward of Xenia who married Mrs Jonnie Meredith daughter of Mr and Mrs L R White formerly of this place.

Three Bullets Fire on Loveland Farmyard
Harry Whitcomb a Loveland area farmer was shot by J. Courtney at his Symmes property. Courtney claimed self defense after Whitcomb advanced with a club. two bullets struck Whitcomb, one in the back the other in the arm, while a third shot caused no injury. Courtney surrendered and was released on his own recognizance after medical examination.

Report describes two near misses from blasting at BackBone works. Mrs Haworth, aged neighbor, was startled when a heavy stone crashed through roof into her parlor. Later a second boulder struck her milk pail while she milked the cow. The events occurred the same day as a local accident injuring a worker's son.
