A Greene county farmer lost an alienation of affections suit brought by his son in law Frank Sutton who sought 10 000. After a three day trial a jury awarded Sutton 8000 to be paid by the farmer in a case noted as the first on record where a son in law won such damages against a father in law. The courtroom drew 800 plus spectators and a loud celebration echoed blocks away.

Edenton station agent faces suspension after knife attack
Thomas Cole, station agent at Edenton, was brought before Milford Mayor Hill last week on a charge of attempting to cut and kill. Ordered to vacate the station, Cole refused, and a fight with Sherman Pierce led to a knife wound on Pierce’s hand. Mayor Hill fined Cole and sentenced him to the work house but suspended the punishment if Cole relinquishes the station agent post and stays out of further trouble.

Louis Marks, Norwood saloonist, filed a warrant accusing Henry Beckler and his son Roy Beckler of blackmailing him after Marks was fined $150 for Sunday alcohol sales to minors.
