Ream Resigns County Health Post in Clermont Change

Two Clermont County Health Department personnel changes announced Tuesday Dr A B Ream health commissioner will leave to return to Mechanicsburg Ohio to resume private practice Mrs Ruth Patchell says she will resign effective September 1 after serving under four health commissioners in the county Their replacements have not yet been announced with several prospects being considered The County Board of Health which appoints appointments includes Dr Allan B Rapp Dr Warren E Thomas J F Robinson C S Smith and John B Ginn Clermonts district covers 470 square miles includes 14 townships 12 villages and 10 first grade high schools along with 15 rural and three parochial schools In Reams administration infectious diseases declined to a new low for the county's health status.

Fire Destroyed Bach Residence After Weekend Blaze

A late Saturday fire leveled the two story Bach home on main street, with Mrs Emma Bach, a widow, losing clothing and a piano from the first floor. Neighbors saved much furniture while firemen aided by villagers fought the blaze amid high winds and outaged telephone lines.

Sergeant Harold L Ludlow Vacationing at Hot Springs

Sgt Harold L Ludlow on 60 day furlough at Hot Springs Arkansas with Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman’s Badge, touring Redistribution Station resort hotels before finalizing Army reassignment. He served seven months in France and Germany and was a prisoner of war for two months. He will have medical exams and records review then a job suitability interview, about ten hours total. He may use Lake Catherine lodge facilities and an extensive seven day recreation program during his stay.

Jersey Cattle Meet Draws 179 in Batavia

The Southwestern Ohio Jersey Cattle Club met August 26 at Cliff and Smyth-Davis Batavia home. Two hundred attendees heard programs from seven counties. A pure-bred heifer calf donated by the Davises went to Patty Rickey of Mt. Healthy and will be trained by Clinton Caldwell for future Hamilton County Fair showing.
