The Oreb prospect in Clermont County begins sinking a well on August 16. By 180 feet gas is strong enough to extinguish nearby lights, and at 300 feet the flame shoots above the derrick, drawing 100s of visitors to witness a fierce gusher as drilling continues toward 1200 feet.

Bandle Prize Trophy Awarded in Bethel Shoot
Fully one thousand spectators watched the Bandle prize shoot at Bethel last Thursday. M. F. McNutt of Williamsburg won the gold medal in the local event. Ed. Jeff Hill Drowns While Fishing Near Perin's Mills
About midnight Saturday the Stonelick community learned Jeff Hill had drowned during a trot line setting. The 35 year old Batavia resident, a widower with four children, died in a washout hole below the bridge. An inquest found accidental drowning. funeral at the Baptist church followed by burial at Olive Branch. Hill carried a $500 life policy to his father, A. H B. Hill.

Jefferson Irving Davis son of Alfred Davis died at the family home in Union township between Mt Carmel and Milford on Tuesday at 3 PM. He was about thirty, died after lingering consumption, and had planned to move to Los Angeles to join his uncle Hugh Mundell. Interment at Union Cemetery Milford occurred this morning at 10 o'clock.
