Goshen Pioneer Perrine Applegate Dies After Runaway Crash

The Goshen township community mourns Perrine Applegate Esq a longtime prominent citizen. While driving with his son a frightened horse caused the buggy to overturn near the seventh anniversary celebration of his wife. Applegate died hours later from a brain concussion. The son escaped unharmed and the funeral was led by Rev Weaver with a large attendance.

Instant death for contractor hit by Pan Handle train

A contractor named William Nichola of Goshen was struck on the track near Peachy’s Station above Loveland by the Pan Handle express. He died instantly, suffering multiple injuries. An inquest was held in Loveland before the body was sent to Goshen for burial.
