County commissioners invite bids on a transistorized radio base station including installation of transmitter receiver antenna and related equipment. Bids are due by September 9 and details and bidder instructions appear in a legal notice in this newspaper.
Mrs Gladys Arnett 67 of Cincinnati died from injuries after a two car crash at the SR 32 Old 74 intersection west of Batavia on August 12. Her husband James Arnett 73 and grandson Mathew Heaton 10 were injured. Arnett cited for failure to yield. The Batavia Life Squad rushed the victims to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. Jamboree at Bethel Middle School on August 29 benefits the Bethel Life Squad.
The Courier reports that Oliver P Bardes president of Decision Inc was to be served summons for the action. Mr Ryan and Mr Bartles were asked for comment but declined to speak, and the source notes a potential wording issue with quotation marks in the story.
Clermont County commissioners seek a legal opinion on using the former county home property for the proposed county hospital. The 25 acre East Batavia site, donated for the hospital, may conflict with the Hoffman Amendment requiring land be donated. Hospital officials may reject the county home site despite legal feasibility.
Expenditures of the Clermont County Youth Commission will be paid from county funds after county commissioners approval. Written requests for proposed expenses are required. For 1969 items listed include 500 for training counselors 400 for meals and lodging 200 for a reality therapy seminar. 1970 proposals include 2000 for group counseling 1000 for parent counseling and 500 for workshops. A meeting featured allegations of politics as Russell Canter announced he would commission precipitated action.
The Air Tour Committee will sponsor an air tour on Saturday September 6 at Clermont County Airport on Taylor Pike west of Batavia Ohio. North and South tours cover about 40 miles round trip with flights from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets available at the airport. Programs show tour routes and conservation practices. Officials sign bonds for the Mill project at the South Tour Royal Oaks County Club site featuring lakes and a golf course near Beckford Station with backing from C. G. E. and New Richmond.
Lawrence Applegate 22 of Loveland drove the car on Loveland-Miami Road south of Loveland when it left the road and hit a tree. Three passengers suffered injuries and were rushed to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. Dycus Potts and Hill were in serious to fair condition.
A 1965 Oldsmobile owned by Minor E. Wilson was stolen Friday from 226 Spring Street Batavia and recovered by Deputy Lloyd Hauck at 3 am Monday in the Club 50 lot Owensville. Batavia Chief N C Ward says this is the second Batavia car stolen this year. Another car from Cann Ford Inc was stolen from Liming's on Main Street and recovered upstate with heavy damage.
Earl T Barnes chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party will be the main speaker at the Clermont County Republican barbecue at Sportmen's Park on Saturday August 23. Barnes a Cincinnati native and UC law graduate holds several leadership roles and has held high profile positions. The fundraising event runs 5 to 7 pm with a program to follow. Tickets are available from committee members or at the barbecue site. Door prizes include a portable TV and oil paintings.
The Ohio Department of Highways will open bids August 26 to reconstruct 0.4 mile of Main Street SR 133 in Williamsburg. Director P. E. Masheter announced the plan.
The shooting occurred at 10 p.m. last Friday on SR 125 in Wilhiamsville. The victim, Roger Combs, 32, of Burnet Ave Cincinnati, was wounded in the right side while driving the car in which Mrs. Minges was the only passenger. Combs is listed in critical condition at Mariemont Hospital.
Clermont County officials reported a total tax and motor vehicle revenue distribution. State Auditor Roger Cloud announced 174 789 from two mill and five mill taxes plus 1 459 563 from license fees and gas taxes to fund local streets and highways. A barn fire near Newtonsville destroyed a structure on Roudebush Road and is under investigation. Large capacity scales will be inspected in Clermont Southy Sept 2 5.
